This Is What An Enhanced Index Fund Entails
There are lots of terms and definitions that one needs to be aware of when investing in the stock market. This is especially true when it comes to mutual funds. Among the terms is enhanced index fund which basically refers to an investment that tracks a stock market index, with the aim of making the management of the investment much easier to keep track of.
The enhanced index fund comes with certain advantages and disadvantages as well. The biggest disadvantage is that the investments incur relatively higher fees due to the fact that there is a procedure that is involved in the management. This procedure involves active management to ensure that there is no return of the tracking index. That is to say that a lot of caution is required to see to it that the tracking process is done without recurrence of figures or index numbers.
One advantage is that, despite the high fees, the turnover is quite favorable and hence could be considered to justify the high fees. At the same time, this could also go hand in hand with the fact that the investments are also faced with a high risk factor. The high risk is as a result of using the leverage and active management arrangement. This should however not make an investor overlook the benefits that one can draw from the enhanced index funds.
The investment has a long history and entails a lot of factors. However, as a hint to what their purpose is, they were started by John Bogle in 1975 with the aim of offering lower fees to investors as compared to other investments and do away with market distortion. However, This has greatly changed with the introduction of many types of investments that have brought a lot of competition and diversification in the money market.
