Foods That Can Clear Up Bad Bacteria

November 24th, 2010 No comments

Most types of Bacteria are microscopic, single-celled living organisms that are enclosed in a protective layer, commonly referred to as a cell wall. This wall protects it from the harsh effects of the environment. Bacteria are able to co-exist with other animals without causing harm to their bodies. They are classified according to shape, mode of feeding and the effects that they have on other living organisms; they could be sphere shaped, rod shaped, spiral, harmful and helpful bacteria. Over 99% of bacteria that exist are helpful, they live the intestines of animals, where they aid in food digestion.

Bad bacteria will normally thrive in the digestive system, causing bad breath that is sometimes hard to remove. Parsley is a popular vegetable and herb that aid in food digestion while fighting bad odors that come out of the mouth. Most people use it as a breath fresher by chewing it after having had a meal, while at the same time getting some nutrients from it. The herb can also be taken as a tonic by squeezing the leaves in hot water and drinking it as it is. Other herbs in this category include; coriander, Bergamot, Cedarwood, eucalyptus, rosemary, spearmint and tarragon.

Brushing your teeth regularly, gargling mouth wash and having the dentist check up your dental health will prove to be important for your health. However, vegetables, such as carrots and fruits that are rich in Vitamin C, apples and citrus fruits will give your body the much needed minerals, vitamins and fiber. Vitamin C also prevents bleeding of gums due to bad oral heath. The bleeding of gum is also referred to as gingivitis, a disease that eats up the tissue that support the teeth. Chewing the fiber in the foods i have mentioned above will help remove the bacteria infected plaque that builds inside your mouth.

The continuos build up of bacteria in the mouth causes bad breath. Non-commercial yogurt, one that is made with less sugar helps reduce the amount of hydrogen sulfide, plaque and bad odor in the mouth. Apart from these foods that reduce the amount of bacteria in the mouth, one can use antibiotics to kill the bad bacteria. Washing your hands before and after meals, avoiding unhygienic public places and maintaining general cleanliness helps to clear up bad bacteria. Its also important for a parent to teach the children the importance of maintaining good hygiene and constant oral care habits in school and at home.
