Daycare

Day care services have spread to most parts of the country, the demand for their services have been driven by the increased number of women joining the work force. Day care facilities are either operated for profit or non profit. The for profit ones are run as legitimate businesses while the non-profit are run by the government or by faith based organizations or charities with some relying on donations. All daycare facilities are governed by the Day Nurseries Act, with the exception of home daycare.

The Day Nurseries act limits the number of children that a daycare can admit and the safety requirements necessary to run a day care center etc. Parents can easily find a day care center in their area by looking through the local newspapers or listings in the telephone directory. Word of mouth too can be an excellent way of finding one. Once a center has been identified the parents should visit the daycare facilities to assess the conditions under which there children will be under. It is important to look at the safety precautions that have been put in place as well the general cleanliness of the daycare facility.

Talking to other parents at the daycare facility should give you a better picture of the institution. Daycare facilities must adhere to the highest safety standards. They must have in place safety protocols that would be followed in case of fire or injuries that may arise from play or other activities. The staff too should also be adequately trained to handle such eventualities.
