Genital Warts

Genital warts are the physical manifestation of the human papilloma virus. As the name suggests they are found on human genitals. Warts general thrive in moist areas on the human body, genital warts then will be found on the moist areas of our genitals. Genital warts will be found on both males and females.

In the case of females they will be found in the on the vulva, on the lips of the vagina, in the vaginal cavity, on the cervix and sometimes in the birth canal. In the case of the males they will be found on the penis (usually on the head of the penis although warts can also be found under the foreskin, and on the shaft), around the scrotum, on the groin, in or around the anus and in some cases, on the thighs.

The human papilloma virus is highly contagious and is passed on through contact with the infected area. It is sexually transmitted so any one engaging in anal, oral or virginal sex with an infected person with contract the virus. There is a 66% chance that you will be infected if you have sexual intercourse with an infected person.

This warts manifest themselves in areas where condoms do not cover so they offer no protection for the virus. The body can fight off the virus but this still leaves you vulnerable to infection from the many other strains of the human papilloma virus. The only way to protect your self is to stick to one partner and get regular medical checkups.
