Just like I used to think, I am sure you too think you know what it takes to have healthy teeth. Trust me, there’s a lot that you may be ignoring or paying little attention to. Do you actually know what happens when you’ve just finished that chocolate? Well, bacteria are restless and they’ve just another greater environment to grow.
I am not insinuating that we should do away with candy or sweet things. However, we do need to eat them responsibly and limiting the number we take this meals a day. One thing to you ought to know is that saliva helps you cope better with bacteria, its enzymes neutralize the process of the bacteria in a natural way and washes food particles. However, to be on the safe side, ensure you rinse your mouth with fresh water every time you take something sweet. This way, you minimize the sugar level in the mouth.
Some of the ways to maintain healthy teeth are as follows; chewing some sugar free gum after a meal so as to increase saliva production and lower bacterial threat. Cheese is also used as it restores PH balance after a meal. Another thing is using a straw when taking a soft drink, this helps minimize the contact between your teeth and the liquid. Lastly, minimize drinking coffee and tea as they stain enamel.
Orange juice changes the PH level in the mouth leaving the teeth exposed to bacteria and so are other acidic fruit juices. This cause effects that ruins your healthy teeth. It’s advisable to consult you dentist and get recommendations on the kind of toothpaste or mouthwash that suits your dental condition. Finally, you are what you eat, so please choose your food properly and have a balanced diet.
