Baking a cake is no hard task, until it gets to the point of decorating it. However, depending on the attitude you attach to the whole task, it can either be fun or it can turn out to be a disaster. Appetite stems not only form the smell, but from the look of food as well. This means that your bakery product has to look good if people are to enjoy eating it.


The cake decorating process will largely depend on the decorative materials you intend to use. As a tip, you should always start with icing or frosting. It forms a good layer on which you can design other patterns and decorative figures and designs. The designs and patterns you use will also be dictated upon by the occasion at which the food item will be served.

Always strive to match the colors that you use for the decoration with those of the theme of the function. Again, use patterns that match the occasion, for example, if it is a wedding, you could make a decorative figure of a couple and stick it on top of the food item. If you are targeting a kid’s birthday party, then you can consider making designs of his favorite cartoon characters.

One simple way to decorate your cake if you do not have so much time is to sprinkle some sugar particles colored with food colors. If not so, you could make use of flowers, live or artificial.
