Much of the materials that we throw away can actually be put into recyclable use through many ways. The garbage in United States alone weighs more than 200 million tons every year and much of this material does not necessarily have to be thrown away just like that. That is why i want to tell you about the many ways to recycle that there are.

You will be interested to know that 40% to this weight, which translates to 800,000 tons is paper and paperboard weight. Recycle programs have got excellent ideas on how paper can be recycled. After sorting out the garbage you will also realize that another large proportion consists of food and yard waste which makes up 25%. The remaining percentage is filled up with metallic materials, glass, plastic, ceramics, dishes, aluminum among other waste products.

Having mentioned plastic, lets take a moment to emphasize on the dangers that plastic poses to the environment for the fact that it does not decompose. This posits a great challenge for us considering all the plastic waste that lies all over around us. The best way to recycle plastic is to produce bio-degradable plastic but it would only be efficient if it would replace most of the classical plastic production.

To reduce the number of things that need to be recycled, we can avoid buying those items and that way, once there is no more market for them, those who produce them will minimize their production and come up with more disposable products. For energy recycling. invest in rechargeable batteries and energy saving bulbs and you are on your way to reducing your electric bills.
