Gloves can come in handy when we least expect it, depending on the material they are made of. The history of these garments is a long one, but all in all, they have come to serve a purpose that no other piece of clothing could serve so efficiently. They are universal garments, meaning that they can be worn by either men or women. However, the material from which they are made will greatly determine who will wear what. As a good example, look at wedding gloves. They are worn by women and not men.
These garments are also known as mitts and as I said earlier they are made form different materials like wool, cloth, nylon and leather. Leather gloves are made out of tanned animal skin although nowadays, there are the more varied makes that are more synthetic than natural.
Leather mitts once used to hit the headlines because they were considered an icon of fashion. In fact, there are people today who go around collecting them as a hobby because of their obsession with them. If we can look at the issue more deeply, it may not just be an obsession, but the warmth that comes with the mitts. They are comfortable to wear during the cold weather and furthermore, they keep the hands well protected.
Do not limit yourself to wearing leather gloves during the cold season only. They can be worn for sporting activities as well. This includes cycling, driving, football, baseball, skiing, handball among many other games. Furthermore, they can be worn in certain occupations like in factories to protect the hands from harmful substances and chemicals. Bee keeper too can make use of them. The use of these mitts is evident in the Bible too, so it has not just began. Go ahead and try them!
