Everything has its own history because nothing just dropped from heaven onto the face of the earth. This is true for rock climbing too. It is an activity that started off as mountaineering, till people discovered new oceans and realized that they could engage in more daring activities like this. It involves going up steep rocks and cliffs.

Rock climbing remains an integral way of training people for more involving activities like military. It is an activity that became popular in the US as an important aspect of mountain climbing, till the 1950s when people discovered that they could actually do it as an independent sport activity. People from far and wide developed a craze for this activity and they even started traveling far and wide in such of mountainous landscapes.

The history of rock climbing indicates that as popularity grew, there came up a grading system that would give an indication of how easy or difficult a climb is. A person had to choose the level of complexity that he wanted to climb, depending on his level of expertise and experience. However, the grading differs from one country to another.

As the activity progressed in terms of popularity and addiction, more and more people wanted to try it out, both the young and the old. Climbing techniques were developed and equipment were developed to make it more safe and exciting. What began in the last quarter of the 19th century in the Victorian Alps has today become among the world’s top most hobby. All through history, rock climbing has become better and better.
